Bud development, pollen presentation and the ontogeny of stylar hairs and nectar-secreting structures in Michauxia campanuloides L. ROUGH-LEAVED Michauxia, Michauxia campanuloides L'Hér. (Campanulaceae: Campanuloideae), is a poorly studied herbaceous monocarpic biennial inhabiting rocky outcrops and cliffs of the Eastern Mediterranean. Its 8-merous flowers display secondary pollen presentation typical of the Campanuloideae. Scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy are used to examine bud development, pollen development, nectaries as well as the ontogeny of stylar hairs. Emphasis is placed on the sequential growth of the stamens and the style as well as the development of pollen grains and nectar-secreting structures in the light of bud development and in relation to pollen presentation.
